The man who makes computers better

My laptop has just come back from the computer doctor. It was starting to have some trivial, random, but chronic error messages and so while I was away in Paris I left it in the care of my friend Dan White, to make it all better.

It’s back now and it’s all cleaned up and noticeably quicker. Since I’m sat on my bed amidst a pile of papers doing all the updates to my website that I’ve had in my head for months, I thought I’d drop a blog post with a nod to the man who makes it all possible, on a regular basis. Anything IT-related, and Dan’s the Man. He’s an absolute genius with an impressive cv (yes, it’s actually Dr Dan White) and track record, and very importantly – he’s never grumpy and there’s always a solution to anything. (I like people with whom everything is possible.)

I can’t recommend him highly enough. Seriously, if there’s something a bit wrong with your PC, or you want a new one built to spec, or anything in between, do give him a buzz. Also, he deals with audio and radio equipment, so for all you DJs (and I know there are a few of you reading this!) he’s a good man to know. This is his website. Bookmark it. Or remember you saw it here and come back to it when you need it. Or ask me again. Whatever.

There ya go – I want to put delightful people in touch with other delightful people who do beautiful life-enhancing things for a living. Dan certainly does that (in a very clever, impressive sort of way).

Raw chocolate workshop, 12th June!

My friends Emma “Healthy” Jones and Nicola Pledger (aka Miss P! of raw food and magical gluten-free vegan cakes fame) are running a RAW CHOCOLATE MAKING WORKSHOP on 12th June.

Raw cacao is an amazing superfood and is choc full (hahaha – pardon the pun  – had to be done!) with minerals and essential elements that make you energised and zingy. I try and munch a few cacao beans daily, but just on their own they are pretty bitter. Combine them into raw chocolate however, especially the way Nicola does it, and it’s a whole different experience! I can safely say Nicola is a raw chocolate making genius.

Here are the details of the workshop – click on the image below for a larger version of the flyer.

New moon abundance ritual

It’s the new moon today.

The coming full moon is on 27th May, so between now and then the moon is waxing (i.e. growing). The new moon is the time to set goals, plan, grow, create, and manifest. Within the next 24 hours, do the following:

  • Take a cheque from your cheque book, and write your name against the “Pay” line. If the idea appeals to you, write a little tagline by your name, something that describes you being your best self. Usually, I am “Noreen Blanluet, Queen of Amazing Possibilities!” but this time I decided to be “Noreen Blanluet, intrepid adventurer through space and time!”
  • Either leave the date blank, or write the date of today (the new moon).
  • Where you would write out the amount, write: “Paid in full” and try and remember not to draw the squiggly line to block out the rest of the space. (No limitations! Allow the space to be, ready to be filled!)
  • In the box where you would write the amount in numbers, write “Paid in full”, again without squiggly line.
  • On the signature line, you can sign yourself, or sign “The Universe”, or sign “The Law of Abundance”.
  • Now put it away in  safe place (the best way for me to lose something! hehehe) and forget about it.

If you do not own a cheque book, just draw a cheque on a piece of paper, or print out a pretty blank cheque from The Secret website (pdf ready to print).

You can’t do it wrong. By doing this mini ritual you focus your mind and emotions on what you want to create in your life. The main thing is to set an intent with clarity, and create a vibration that you put out into the universe. You don’t even need to believe that it’s going to work – just do it.  You have nothing to lose even if you do not believe in magic! :)

The next couple of new moons are on 12th June and 11th July. Do it a few times. See what happens.

Affirm, pray, focus, ommm. Start with intention.

I did a talk at the weekend at the Natural Health Show – it was about noticing and changing limiting programmes and belief systems in order to create the life you want. It went down really well and I got some good comments at the end – one lady even asked if I’d written a book, because she would have bought it if I had, how cool is that? :)

True to form though, and based on my own exacting personal standards, I still think I could have done better, and I’ve been reviewing my “performance” – in my head and also based on the video that was made (which, once I get to grips with video editing software, I may post extracts of). Coincidentally (but there are no coincidences!) my personal heroine Danielle LaPorte posted a day or so later on 15 tips for public speaking that apply to shining at work and just about everywhere else.

Done 1 (say thank you). Done 2 (be prepared) – tick. Did some of the other points to various degrees, could (and will) work on those – got other talks coming up this year. Happy I did 12 well (dress up) and completely forgot about 10 (believe that people are rooting for you). However, I totally, fantastically, gloriously, did 13:

13. Affirm, pray, focus, ommm.
Whether it’s a staff meeting you’re leading or a concerto performance, a short pre-show ritual pulls your energy into your center. Before I take the stage I say this quickie prayer, “Help us shine.” That’s it. That covers me, the audience, and the world in one fell swoop.

I did mine, actually, because ages ago I read one of Danielle’s earlier posts, and started sharing an invocation wherever and whenever I can, whether I’m doing a one-to-one or talking to a group (rather than just keeping it to myself as I had be wont to prior to that). It varies according to occasions, context and inspiration. This is it for last Sunday:

We are here now to give witness to a shared truth (because that is *so* powerful in just 11 words)
that absolutely everything is in progress
that we are all exactly where we need to be right here, right now
and that we are always given what we need in order to take our next step forward.
(Because that kept cropping up at the weekend).
And so it is.

Sometimes it’s simply: “Alright, let’s do this!”
What’s your intention, invocation, prayer, blessing – for your phone call, your meeting, for today, for life?
